Reversal Scanner: first green day after a losing streak

After several red days in a row, the first green day can be the start of a turn, or just a pause. The Reversals scanner lists U.S. and Canadian stocks that closed above their open after 3 to 10 red days, or closed higher after 3 to 10 lower closes.

It finds the opposite too: the first red day, or the first lower close, after a winning streak. Longer streaks make the turn stand out more.

Questions

What is a first green day?

The first session that closes above its open after a run of red days, where each day closed below its open.

What is the difference between a green day and a rise day?

A green day closes above its own open. A rise day closes above the previous day's close. A stock can open low and close green while still closing below the day before.

Does a reversal mean the trend changed?

Not on its own. One green day after a losing streak is often followed by more losses. Traders look at the volume, the news and the next sessions before they call it a turn.

How often is it updated?

Every trading day, overnight after the close. Streaks of 3 to 10 days are covered.
