The short version

  • We don't give investment advice and we don't tell you what to buy or sell.
  • Data can be delayed, incomplete or wrong. Check prices with your broker before you trade.
  • Trading is risky, small stocks especially. You can lose some or all of the money you invest.
  • Past moves, statistics and backtests don't predict future results.
  • Our recaps and insights are generated automatically, partly with AI tools, and can contain mistakes.

This summary is here to help you read the document. It doesn't replace the full text below.

Not investment advice

Stocktreats is operated by Awobaz Technologies Inc. ("Awobaz", "we", "us"). It publishes general information about stocks and market activity. Nothing on the website, in our emails and newsletters, in our blog posts or on our social media accounts is a recommendation, a solicitation or an offer to buy, sell or hold a security, or to follow a trading strategy.

Scanners, lists, rankings, patterns, signals, statistics and alerts describe what prices and volumes did. They are the same for everyone and don't take into account your financial situation, your objectives or how much risk you can take.

Awobaz is not registered as an adviser, a dealer or a broker with the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), any other Canadian securities regulator, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), FINRA or any other regulator. You are solely responsible for your investment decisions. If you need advice, speak with a registered professional.

Market data and accuracy

Prices, volumes, company information, earnings dates, news headlines and other data come from third-party providers and public sources. We don't control them, and we don't guarantee that they are accurate, complete or up to date.

  • Prices are delayed. During the trading session, prices and volumes are usually delayed by about 5 minutes. They are not real-time quotes.
  • Scans use end-of-day data. Spikes, gaps, breakouts and the other scanners are computed after each trading session.
  • Data can change or be missing. Values can be corrected or adjusted later (for example after a split), and a stock or a day can be missing or temporarily unavailable.

Prices on Stocktreats are indicative and not suitable for trading. Always check the price with your broker before you place a trade.

Price alerts and emails

Price alerts and emails are a convenience. They can arrive late, land in a spam folder, or not be sent at all, for example because of a data delay, an outage or a problem with an email provider. Free alerts are sent once a day, after the market closes.

Don't rely on Stocktreats alerts to manage open positions or for decisions where timing matters. Use the tools your broker provides, like stop orders.

Trading risks

Trading and investing in stocks involve a substantial risk of loss. Prices can move fast and against you, and you can lose some or all of the money you invest.

The stocks that show up in scanners like Spikes, Gaps or New Highs are often small companies, penny stocks, or stocks listed on the TSX Venture or the CSE. These stocks can be extremely volatile and thinly traded, which means they can be hard to sell at the price you expect. They are also frequent targets of promotions and price manipulation ("pump and dump" schemes). A big move is not, on its own, a reason to buy.

Only trade with money you can afford to lose, and make sure you understand the risks and costs before you do.

Past performance and statistics

Historical gainers and losers, the Performance Tracker, Candlestick Stats, pattern statistics and every other historical figure on Stocktreats describe the past. They are hypothetical results: they don't account for commissions, spreads, slippage, taxes or liquidity, and they are computed with the benefit of hindsight, knowing which stocks ended up on a list.

Past performance does not guarantee future results.

Recaps, insights and AI-generated content

Daily recaps, weekly market insights, social media posts and some emails are generated automatically from our data. Parts of their text are written with the help of AI tools and checked by automated rules, but they are not always reviewed by a person before they are published. They can contain errors.

This content describes what happened in the market. It doesn't predict what will happen, and the mention of a company is not an endorsement of that company or its stock.

News, links and third-party content

News headlines, links to news websites, StockTwits conversations and company descriptions are published by third parties. We don't write, verify or endorse them, and we are not responsible for what they say. StockTwits messages are written by its users, who may own the stocks they talk about.

Our own positions

Members of our team may own, buy or sell stocks that appear on Stocktreats, including in scanners, recaps and articles. Scanner results and recaps are produced by the same automatic rules for every stock: we don't pick stocks to promote.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Awobaz and Stocktreats are not liable for any loss or damage, including trading losses and lost profits, that results from using or relying on the information, data, charts, signals, alerts or content provided on Stocktreats, or from errors, omissions, delays or interruptions in that information.

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits a liability that can't be excluded or limited by law, including under the Québec Consumer Protection Act. Our Terms of Service apply as well.

Use of our data

The data, scanner results and content on Stocktreats are for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, scrape, store, redistribute, resell or republish them, or use them in a commercial product, without our prior written consent. The Terms of Service explain what is and isn't allowed.
