Who we are
Stocktreats is operated by Awobaz Technologies Inc. ("Awobaz", "we", "us"), based in Québec, Canada. We are responsible for the personal information we collect through stocktreats.com, our emails and our related services.
Our person in charge of the protection of personal information can be reached at info@stocktreats.com (please write "Privacy" in the subject) or through the contact form.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account: your email address and password (stored in hashed form, never in plain text), and, if you provide them, your first name, last name and username.
- Sign-in providers: if you sign in with Google, Facebook, X (Twitter) or LinkedIn, we receive your email address and profile picture from that provider. Your password for that provider is never shared with us.
- What you set up: your watchlists, price alerts, portfolio holdings (the symbols, quantities and prices you enter), settings and preferences.
- Subscription: your plan, your subscription status and history, the amounts billed, the brand and last four digits of your card or your PayPal subscription ID, and, if you choose to tell us, why you cancelled. We never receive your full card number or its security code.
- Messages: what you send us through the contact form or by email, and your email address if you sign up for our newsletter.
- Referrals: the email addresses of the friends you invite, which we use only to send them your invitation, and who referred you, if someone did.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, the page that sent you to us, and the date and time of your visits and logins.
- Approximate location: the country derived from your IP address. We don't collect your precise location.
- Cookies: see Cookies and similar technologies below.
We don't ask for your brokerage account credentials, and Stocktreats doesn't connect to your brokerage account.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account, and to sign you in.
- To provide the Service: scanners, watchlists, portfolio, and the price alerts you set up.
- To process payments, manage your subscription and prevent payment fraud.
- To answer your messages and help you.
- To send emails about your account: verification, password resets, alerts, billing and important changes.
- With your consent, or where the law otherwise allows it, to send newsletters, like the weekly market insights, and offers. You can unsubscribe from any of them with the link in each email.
- To understand how the Service is used, as a whole, so we can improve it.
- To protect the Service and its members: detecting abuse, scraping and fake or duplicate accounts, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
- To comply with our legal obligations, for example in tax and accounting.
We use AI tools to help write market content such as our daily recaps. Those tools receive market data only: we don't send them your personal information.
Where your information is stored
Our service providers may store and process your information outside Québec and Canada, including in the United States and in Europe, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live. We choose providers that protect personal information appropriately and bind them by contract.
How long we keep it
- Account information is kept for as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except what we must keep by law.
- Billing records are kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require, which is usually 6 years.
- Messages are kept for as long as we need them to answer you and follow up.
- Security and usage logs are kept for a limited time, then deleted or anonymized.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it, including in a structured, commonly used format;
- have it corrected if it's wrong or incomplete;
- have it deleted, along with your account;
- withdraw your consent, for example to receive newsletters, at any time;
- file a complaint with a privacy authority, such as the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or the authority where you live.
You can update most of your information yourself in your account settings, and unsubscribe from newsletters with the link in each email. For anything else, write to us at info@stocktreats.com or through the contact form, from the email address of your account. We answer within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.
Security
We protect your information with measures such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access limited to the people who need it. Card payments are handled by PCI-compliant payment processors. No system is perfectly secure, though.
If a security incident involving your personal information presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify you and the competent authorities, as the law requires.
Children
Stocktreats is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you think a minor has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Other websites
Stocktreats links to news websites and other services that we don't operate. This policy doesn't cover them: please read their own privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we will let you know by email or with a notice on the site before it takes effect.
